Ali bin Musa al-Reza (peace be upon him) (11 Dhu al-Qadah 148 – 30 Safar 203 AH) is the son of Imam Kazem (AS) and Najma Khatun (S) is the eighth Imam of Shiites. His nickname is Abul Hasan and his imamate period is 20 years, which coincided with the final years of Harun al-Rashid’s caliphate, Amin’s caliphate (four years) and the first 5 years of Ma’mun Abbasi’s caliphate.

Most of his life, he was present in his hometown Medina, but in 200 AH, at the insistence of Ma’mun Abbasi, he was forced to go to the city of Mero, the place of the caliphate of this Abbasid caliph. In Marv, Ma’mun forced Hazrat to accept the title of governorship, and finally in 203 AH, Ma’mun poisoned him with poison and martyred him.
